Bike through Shan State to Inle Lake

For a true Burmese adventure, bike to Inle Lake! Bike for four hours through numerous Pa O villages where few foreigners have gone before. Khiri arranges for the mountain bikes, and even though the biking is not technically difficult (most roads are flat or downhill), you’ll still take in fantastic views along the way of the Shan countryside. Eat lunch in a local village and top off the day with a visit to the ancient ruins of Indein. From Indein, we continue by private motorboat to your hotel, where you will find your luggage waiting for you in your room.

Yangon early morning markets visit

One of our expert local guides will meet you in your hotel lobby at 6:30am. The tour begins with a visit to Yangon’s bustling riverside fish market and continues on to a vegetable market where you can enjoy the classic Burmese breakfast—Mohinga, a mild fish soup with noodles and crackers. By the time you finish your breakfast, maroon-robed Burmese monks will be walking the streets of Yangon to collect their morning alms. Be back at your hotel by 9:30am, where, if you choose, you can enjoy a full western breakfast.

Picnic lunch in Bagan

With thousands of temples to choose from, how does one decide where to lunch? Khiri will take you to Minnanthu, one of the most beautiful, quiet, and isolated temple areas within the ruins of Bagan. Our guide will take you by car to this forgotten corner of Bagan, spread out a blanket, and serve you a delicious lunch amongst the ruins. After lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to visit two or three more temples in the area.

Kalaw elephant encounter and trekking

A guide specialising in elephant conservation will meet you in Kalaw, taking you on a half-day trek through a protected forest where you will encounter elephants, their mahouts, and hill tribe peoples. Young tourism professionals from Kalaw have created an elephant conservation project to protect the Asian elephant and provide a sustainable livelihood for local peoples. After lunch, you’ll have time to help the mahout wash and feed the elephants as well as go for an elephant ride. Walk back in the afternoon by the main road and meet up with a pick-up truck that will take you back to Kalaw town.
